Everywhere else: TOMORROW

Auspiciously timed with Venus’s last transit across the sun in the 21st century, I Was Here is part tribute, part love story, and all PLS. Songs by Sonic Youth, Medicine, and The Breeders (with a little Joy Division for good measure) reinterpreted in the raucous and/or ethereal style Poor Little Saturday is so (in)famous for create a triptych that blurs the lines between past and present, love and loss, discord and harmony. Lifting off the party is “100%” reimagined as a raunchy rocker in f***-me pumps while staying true to Sonic Youth’s love for joyful noise. “One More” by Medicine is blended with “Dead Souls” by Joy Division like a sonic boilermaker, and hurls the listener into a sugar glass wall of sound that shatters into sweetness at the end. “Do You Love Me Now?” completes the cycle with an a cappella interpretation of The Breeders’ classic that bittersweetly swirls your whole mess back down to earth. Enjoy the ride.

Thank you to all of the artists who have inspired me along the way and continue to this day. As a solo-performed/recorded/produced, DIY EP, most costs have gone to securing mechanical and distribution rights, the vast majority of of which will go to record execs and media congloms that have lately been trying to legislate their profits into stone with SOPA, ACTA, CISPA, et cetera, and PLS finds this UNACCEPTABLE. All rights have been secured because above all else, PLS respects the artists whose songs appear on I Was Here, but after recovering these costs that skim a neat double profit from all of the artists involved, proceeds from the sales of this EP will be donated 50/50 to Sweet Relief, a charitable organization that helps ill or disabled musicians make ends meet, and the Electronic Frontier Foundation, a non-profit that defends the rights of the public to freedom of information in the digital age.

Keeping the music flowing…
PLS
